Introduction

Welcome to the Keio Research Center for the Liberal Arts

Keio Research Center for the Liberal Arts is a unique organization founded in 2002 in order to integrate, inherit and reconstruct knowledge for creating new scientia through collaboration of the faculty members, staff members, and students. The Center's activities include not only conducting and investigating research projects in liberal arts education, but also encouraging individual and interdisciplinary research projects in that area. The outcome of those active projects is tested by means of experimental courses and develops into new teaching and learning methods which would be adopted in society as well as in university. The Center's principal missions are as follows:

Mission

  1. Plan, design and organize integrated research on liberal arts and liberal arts education that can address our changing society, and develop independent research activities.
  2. Solicit liberal arts and liberal arts education research projects, and support the implementation of these projects.
  3. Broadly disseminate research findings throughout society, and actively voice proposals regarding the liberal arts and liberal arts education.
  4. Undergo assessments of all research activities to elevate and improve the quality of research activities.
